Built by a developer.
Designed by counselors.

DISC Software exists because a group of school counselors needed better tools — and were willing to help build them.

It started with one counselor who needed better tools.

My wife is a school counselor. During her graduate internship, she kept running into the same problem — there was no good software to help her track, manage, and analyze her daily work. Spreadsheets were clunky. Generic tools missed the point. So I started writing something that would give her what she needed.

Before long, her entire graduate school cohort was using it every day. They told me exactly what they needed, I built it, they told me what was missing, I built that too. The software evolved through that feedback loop — shaped entirely by the people actually doing the job.

Once everyone graduated and started working in schools across the region, the circle expanded. New coworkers started using it. Entire departments came on board. Eventually we decided to make it available to any counselor who might want it.

Data Informed School Counseling Software — DISC Software for short. My wife tells me school counselors love a good acronym.

Why it matters
“School counselors are among the most data-accountable professionals in education — and among the least supported with tools to manage that data. DISC exists to close that gap.”

The principles behind the product.

Built from the inside

DISC Software wasn't designed by people guessing what school counselors need. It was built in direct collaboration with working counselors who used it every day and told us exactly what to build next.

Student privacy first

We built the encryption architecture before we built the features. Personally identifiable student data is encrypted on a per-user basis — not even we can read it. That's not a feature, it's a foundation.

Fair pricing, always

School counselors are underpaid and under-resourced. $100 a year for everything — no tiers, no upsells, no per-seat fees. Grad students get two years free. That's not a promotion, it's a policy.

Counselors shape the roadmap

Every major feature in DISC Software came from a counselor saying "I need this." That feedback loop hasn't changed. If you use DISC and have an idea, we want to hear it.

A complete rebuild, with a lot more to offer.

This version of DISC Software is a ground-up rewrite of the original. The core data collection tools have been refined and expanded. New features include group assessments with pre/post comparison tools, file attachments with client-side encryption, a completely redesigned analytics suite with more chart types and deeper demographic breakdowns, and a new PDF report generation system.

The feedback that shaped this version came from the same place the original did — counselors using the software every day and telling us what they needed next.

We're easy to reach.
